Coffee is a massive global industry, employing over 100 million people on six continents. And the labor provided by the vast majority of those coffee professionals is never seen in the United States and Europe—all of the planting, tending, harvesting, sorting, washing, drying, packing…we take these things for granted, without realizing that these are the crucial first steps on a globetrotting journey these precious beans will make to arrive in our morning cups.

Competition is rife in every corner of New York, and the specialty coffee scene is no exception. We seek to promote the efforts of the roasters who are pushing the envelope in the quality of their beans in addition to faithfully sourcing their products with the highest standards of transparency, traceability, and fairness to each link in the chain of coffee production.

Bottom line: many coffee farmers are growing incredible, highly unique coffees evocative of the beautiful mountainsides on which they’re grown; many NYC roasters are unlocking the full potential of each coffee they import without obfuscating the practices with which those beans were grown and developed.

What this means for us is clear: the opportunity to brew an incredible pot of coffee, as opposed to a merely acceptable batch, is for the barista to capitalize on. And we will do everything in our power to empower you with the tools to do so.
